ABOUT THE PROJECT
On March 23, 2018, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which provided $600 million in Federal Funds for rural broadband deployment.​ The ReConnect Program is an innovative new pilot program that offers unique federal financing and funding options to facilitate broadband deployment in areas of rural America that don't currently have sufficient access to broadband.
Bruce Telephone Company (BTC) is seeking funding from the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) ReConnect Program, a division of the USDA, to expand our current network and provide high speed internet to the citizens of Houlka and parts of rural Calhoun & Chickasaw Counties. An internet connection is extremely important today, and as more of our lives are influenced by smart devices, the need for a high speed, reliable internet connection will only grow.
